Shourijeh to Boost Iran Gas Delivery

TEHRAN June 17 (Shana)--Shourijeh gas storage facility is to increase Iran’s gas delivery capacity by more than 9 mcm next winter, managing-director of Natural Gas Storage Company said.

Masoud Samivand said 4 mcm/d of gas is currently being injected into the storage facility, adding that the volume will increase to 7.5 mcm/d in the coming days.
He said that 120 mcm of gas has so far been stored in this facility.
Samivand said a refinery with the processing capacity of 20 mcm of gas is operating in this facility.
The storage facility will supply gas to North Khorasan, Khorasan Razavi, Mazandaran, Guilan and even Ardebil provinces in north, northeast and northwest of Iran.
Iran would no longer need to import gas from eastern neighbors.
Over the coming seven months, 5 mcm/d of gas would have been stored in Shourijeh. Next winter, 9 mcm/d of gas could be withdrawn from this facility.
Shourijeh facility, located 25 kilometers southeast of Sarakhs in northwestern Iran, can store up to 4.8 bcm of gas. The storage facility has a refinery with the capacity of 20 mcm/d.
