Iran Develops SRU Technology

TEHRAN June 18 (Shana)--Iran has developed technology to recover sulfur from acid gases, director of research and technology for the National Iranian Gas Company said.

“For the first time in the country, sulfur recovery unit (SRU) has been designed by domestic knowledge and without dependence on foreign license,” Saeed Pakseresht said.
He said that SRU is a processing unit in gas refineries.
He added that the SRU technology has been developed by the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry.
Pakseresht said an SRU unit is to be installed at Bidboland refinery under an engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) project for the production of 120 tons a day of sulfur.
He said the sulfur fed into Bidboland refinery is to rise and therefore a sulfur recovery unit would be a must.
Pakseresht said fitting refineries with SRU would prevent the emission of SO2 in the environment.
