NIDC Accelerating Drilling in South Pars Phase 14

TEHRAN June 23 (Shana)--Managing director of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) Hamid Reza Golpayegani said the company has moved one of its offshore drilling rigs from South Pars gas field phase 17 to phase 14 of the mega gas field in order to accelerate drilling 22 wells in the phase.

He said the company managed to complete drilling of 22 gas wells in the phase 17 and 18 of South Pars on schedule, and named it a great achievement for NIDC’s drilling activities in the shared gas field in the Persian Gulf waters.
“NIDC could perform all its duties in South Pars gas field phases 17&18 successfully including studying the layers, geological studies, engineering, planning, technical services, procurement and providing drilling rigs” the top NIDC executive said.
Referring to NIDC’s presence in South Pars projects, he said: "NIDC completed drilling of 11 wells for the first time in Phase 5 and after that drilled 24 wells in the phases 9&10 successfully."
Golpayegani noted that drilling in phase 14 had made progress by 40 percent, adding that moving a new drilling rig to the phase would accelerate drilling operations there.
“In addition to phase 14, NIDC is involved in other drilling projects including in Azadegan, Yaran, Azar oil fields and the phase one of the South Pars gas field as well”, he concluded.
