Iran Oil Sanctions Still in Place

TEHRAN June 28 (Shana)--A senior Iranian oil official has said that oil sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic have not been eased.

“So far, no sanctions have been lifted on Iran’s petroleum industry,” Mohsen Qamsari, director for international affairs of National Iranian Oil Company, said.
He said that Iran’s nuclear deal with six world powers has only prevented the imposition of new sanctions against Iran’s oil sector.
“It would be wrong to imagine that economic sanctions on Iran have been eased. The Geneva talks in the past months only stabilized conditions and prevented new sanctions,” said Qamsari.
He added that the lifting of US and European sanctions against Iran require the approval of Congresses in these countries.
“Banking, insurance and shipping problems as well as many other challenges have not yet been resolved,” said Qamsari.
He said even a country or company willing to buy gas condensate from Iran is required to reduce its oil imports from Iran.
