Mini-Refineries Planned in Free Zone

TEHRAN June 30 (Shana)--Iran’s Petroleum Ministry has authorized the construction of five mini-refineries in the oil-rich southwestern province of Khuzestan.

The refineries are to be built in Arvand Free Zone in the energy-rich province, managing-director of the free zone said.
Esmaeil Zamani also said that the mini-refineries are to be fed by Abadan oil refinery.
He also said that 110 small and medium-sized petrochemical units could also be constructed in Arvand free zone.
“This zone is located close to the country’s largest oil reserves and it will have a great potential for the development of downstream and petrochemical sectors,” Zamani said.
Arvand Free Zone sprawls on 172 square kilometers with access to road, railroad, marine and air transport facilities.
