CNG Share at 23%

TEHRAN July 3 (Shana)--The share of compressed natural gas (CNG) in Iran’s fuel consumption has reached 23 percent, an official with the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company said.

Mansour Riahi said more than four million vehicles run on both gasoline and CNG in Iran.
“Low price, contribution to clean air and healthy environment are among important indicators necessitating CNG industry development,” he said.
Riahi said 2,210 CNG stations are already active in Iran, adding that 1,000 new stations are to be constructed by the private sector over the coming five years.
Iran currently consumes more than 20 mcm/d of CNG. According to Petroleum Minsitry plans, CNG consumption is expected to exceed 30 mcm/d, or more than 30-percent share in the country’s energy mix.
