Sour Gas from Phase 16 to Come online

TEHRAN July 14 (Shana)--The sour gas recovered from phase 16 of the South Pars gas field will be transferred to onshore facilities by November.

Phases 15&16 of the massive offshore South Pars gas field are expected to be producing 40 mcm/ of gas before the start of winter, managing-director of Pars Oil and Gas Company has said.
The hookup operations in phase 16 are being undertaken by Iranian technicians and are to be finished soon so that its platform would become operational by October, said Ali-Akbar Shabanpour.
Laying the sea pipeline, which transfers the sour gas from the phase to onshore facilities, will also be completed before fall, said the official.
Phases 15&16 of South Pars are currently producing 2 mcm/d of gas, Shabanpour said.
South Pars currently supplies 300 mcm/d of natural gas to Iran gas trunklines, which equals 72 percent of the country’s total consumption.
