Kavian Petchem Plant to Quadruple Output

TEHRAN July 15 (Shana)--Kavian Petrochemical Plant can quadruple its production to two million tons a year if it receives enough feedstock, the plant’s manager said.

Ramezan Owladi said the plant is expected to receive the necessary feedstock from phases 15&16 of the massive offshore South Pars gas field.
He said the first train of Kavian Petchem Plant is working at 50 percent capacity, adding that the second train is in the pre-commissioning stage.
Owladi said the plant is ready to receive more ethane from South Pars to boost its production.
He said Kavian has the potential to produce one million tons a year of ethylene, adding that feedstock shortages cut its production to 410,000 tons last calendar year to March.
Phases 15&16 of South Pars are expected to produce 100 mcm/d of gas this year.
Kavian Petchem Plant is one of the largest ethylene producers in Iran. Its products are destined to western provinces.
