Gasoline Consumption Expected to Rise, NIOPDC

TEHRAN July 20 (Shana): Gasoline consumption is expected to rise by the end of as Ramadan in Iran to hit 71 ml a day over the remaining days of summer as commuting grows dramatically in the cities.

Managing director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC), Mostafa Kashkouli made the remarks adding daily gasoline consumption in Ramadan stood at 64 million litres but is expected to rise to 71 million litres in the remaining days of summer, above the average daily consumption over the year.

According to NIOPDC’s chief, holy month of Ramadan and implementation of the second phase of targeting subsidies law were the two main reasons behind recent shrinking gasoline consumption.

He further noted that gasoline consumption stood at 69 million liters per day over the first three months of current Iranian calendar year since March 21 2014, up by 2 percent against similar period last year.

NIOPDC figures also show that gasoil and kerosene consumption edged lower over the first three months of current Iranian calendar year reaching 95.2 and 4.6 million liters per day, down by 4.2 and 6 percent respectively against similar period last year.
