Gas Supply to Petchem Plants to Hit 86bcm

TEHRAN August 6 (Shana)--Petrochemical plants are set to receive 86 bcm of natural gas a year by 2025, director of projects at National Petrochemical Company said.

Marzieh Shahdari said the 86 bcm will make up 21 percent of Iran’s total natural gas production.
She said that NPC plans to account for 40 percent of Iran’s non-oil exports by 2025.
Shahdari said Iran’s petrochemical plants enjoy such advantages as access to feedstock, experience, infrastructure, experienced manpower and access to high seas.
She acknowledged that international sanctions and mismanagement have delayed some petrochemical projects.
Iran Petrochemical Commercial Company (IPCC) exported 838 million dollars worth of petrochemicals during the first four months of the current calendar year which started on March 21.
The exported products, weighing 831,000 tons, mainly included propane and butane.
Iran produced 40 million tons of petrochemicals in the last calendar year, with 9 billion dollars worth of its products being exported.
The country plans to increase its petrochemical exports to 12 billion dollars this year.
