Manager of planning at the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Hasan Montazer Torbati said the country needs 15 billion dollars in investment to build the necessary infrastructures in order to achieve the target.
He said the current volume of gas production stands at approximately 180 billion cubic meters per year but based on the NIGC planning, the volume will reach 400 bcm in 2025.
“In order to achieve the target, gas infrastructure facilities should grow by 2.5 times but it is not out of reach due to extensive projects underway for boosting gas production in the country specially in South Pars gas field”, the official noted.
Elsewhere in his remarks he said 1.000 kilometers of pipeline and 10 boosting gas pressure stations will become operational this year which will raise the total gas network of the country to 35 thousand kilometers.
Completion of sections 4, 8 and 10 of Iran’s gas trunklines (IGAT) as well as parts of section 6 of IGAT are among the top priorities of this year’s NIGC agenda.
NIGC also plans to boost its gas delivery capacity by 80 and 100 mcm respectively over this year and the next year.
