Director of engineering and planning at NIOPDC Abdollah Mollabagher made the remarks adding NIOPDC has decided to reactivate construction of the half-finished storage projects and complete them before the end of current Iranian calendar year to March 2015.
He continued the five mentioned storage facilities are located in Mahshahr, Birjand, Malaer, Shiraz and Uromiyeh having the capability to store 300, 105, 70, 170 and 120 million liters respectively.
NIOPDC official said construction of these storage tanks had been progressed by 85 percent on average but their construction put on hold due to lack of money and inflation.
According to Mollabagher, NIOPDC has allocated 650 billion rials for completion of the five storage tanks.
Over the past year several storage tanks came on stream across the country which raised storage capacity of the oil products by 550 million liters.
Iran’s oil products storage capacity stands at 12.5 billion liters now and is expected to reach to at least 13 billion liters up to March 2015.
