Under the plan, Petroleum Ministry will implement a number of gas supply projects mainly in southeastern cities of the country including Zahehan, Zabol, Khash, Chabahar and Konarak.
Signing a contract to raise the number of CNG stations from 2.000 to 3.000 was another plan the petroleum ministry performed during the first year since the new government took office in August last year.
Optimizing energy consumption is among the programs petroleum ministry has put on the agenda in order to boost the share of CNG in the basket of vehicles’ fuel consumption and has tasked Iran’s Fuel Conservation Company (IFCO) to go ahead with installing a growing number of CNG stations across the country.
IFCO has also extension of rail road transportation on the agenda in order to boost energy saving. Modernizing motor rooms in residential, commercial and administrative complexes as well as modernizing public transportation through replacing outdated buses by new ones, increasing the number of taxis using CNG and hybrid fuel, production of low consumption gas stoves and equipping water systems of agricultural sector with electricity are among the priorities of IFCO to improve energy efficiency in the country.
