NIORDC Plans to Revive Anahita Oil Refinery

TEHRAN Sep. 2 (Shana)--Iran's Petroleum Ministry will pursue building Anhita oil refinery which its construction in the western province of Kermanshah was approved 8 years ago.

Managing director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Abbas Kazemi told Shana in an interview that basic engineering and designing works for starting construction of the refinery has been completed.
Kazemi said even though under the article 44 of the constitution on privatization, the government cannot legally take part in building the refinery but it plans to pursue building the refinery through holding different meetings with private investors.
Construction of Anahita oil refinery was approved eight years ago for the first time when the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei, visited the province.
Being outdated, the current Kermanshah oil refinery and its location inside the city with its negative impact on the environment as well as replacing crude oil sale with oil products with higher value-added were the reasons behind a decision made eight years ago by cabinet for building 150 thousand barrels Anahita oil refinery outside Kermanshah city.
Completing Anahita oil refinery not only will pave the way for creation of direct and indirect jobs for thousands of local peoples but will prepare the ground for exportation of its products to the neighboring countries.
Enclosing the site of the refinery with fences, construction of access roads, setting up an electric post and a cement water pool and building an office near the site are among the preliminary works done for reviving Anahita oil refinery construction.
