Enhanced Recovery, a Must

TEHRAN Sep. 3 (Shana)--Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh has said that enhanced recovery from oil and gas fields is a priority in Iran’s petroleum industry.

He said Iranian universities and the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI) should take a foreign partner and use all tools at their disposal to realize the objectives set for the development of fields.
Zanganeh said a one-percent increase in recovery rate will earn billions of dollars in revenues to compensate for all costs.
The minister said RIPI should also focus on energy efficiency plans, adding that fuel sales in Iran are 80 billion dollars below the FOB price a year.
He said that knowledge-based activities in energy efficiency will create jobs and boost the level of social welfare.
Zanganeh said RIPI should buy a hi-tech company working in the petroleum industry as the Chinese do in order to transfer in technology.
