Gas Storage Hits 1.8 bcm

TEHRAN Sep. 9 (Shana)--1.5 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas have been stored in Shourijeh and Serajeh gas storage facilities in Khorasan Razavi and Qom provinces which will reach 1.8 bcm in the near future, said a senior NGSC official.

Speaking on the sidelines of inauguration ceremony of Shourijeh gas storage facility, managing director of the Natural Gas Storage Company (NGSC) Masoud Samivand said the volume of gas storage would hit 1.8 bcm in the coming winter and will prepare the ground for the supply of 20 mcm/d of gas from the two facilities [in cold days].
According to Samivand, Shourijeh gas storage facility includes two 10mcm/d dehydration units; one of them has become operational while the second one will come online in case of rising production.
Despite harsh sanctions, fluctuations in foreign exchange rate and difficulty of transferring the needed equipment to the area, completion of Shourijeh gas storage facility went as planned and finished in a 34-month period, Samivand further said.
According to the NGSC official, the company has spent IRR 2.870 billion for building the facility which has been ready for gas injection since last winter.
