NIGC to Speed Up Construction of Gas Export Pipelines

TEHRAN Sept 16 (Shana)--Based on a decree by Iranian minister of petroleum, the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) is authorized to dip into the financial resources earmarked for development of South Pars gas field to accelerate construction of 6, 9 and 11 gas trunklines.

Asghar Soheilipour who is in charge of a specialized investment committee at NIGC made the remarks, adding that 6, 9 and 11 gas trunklines respectively require 2, 6 and 4 billion dollars in investment, 12 billion dollars in total.
According to NIGC official, the three gas pipelines with 56 inches in diameter are the most important projects of the NIGC and play an instrumental role in facilitating gas export.
The three gas pipelines have been designed for transferring gas from South Pars gas field to consumption destinations in north and central parts of the county, two of which have the capacity to be extended for gas export to Europe.
The approximate length of 6, 9 and 11 gas pipelines is 1300, 1863 and 1100 kilometers respectively.
