NIGC Eying Gas Export

TEHRAN Sept 21 (Shana)--The National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) plans to increase gas trade with other countries along with projected rising gas production capacity in the country.

Director of planning at NIGC Hassan Montazer Torbati made the remarks adding the company plans to increase gas trade with other countries concurrent with projected rise of Iran's natural gas production by 100 million cubic meters per day.
He added unique geographical location of Iran also could pave the way for other kinds of trade in gas market including swap and transit.
Earlier Torbati told Shana that the country’s gas production capacity was expected to rise 80 to 100 million cubic meters per day this year.
According to the official, NIGC looks for not only expanding gas infrastructures at home but more active presence in world markets.
“The planned gas pipelines including IGAT-6 and IGAT-9 have been designed not only to meet domestic needs but expand export capacity of the country”, he concluded.
