The country's total petrochemical production during Shahrivar, 6th month in Iranian calendar, was 3.786 million tons, the latest data from the National Petrochemical Company suggested.
The size of the productions included output from all the country's petchem plants including development ones and those ceded to the private sector for handling.
During the period, Mahshahr petchem plants produced 9.254mn tons, plants in Assaleuyeh produced 9.329 mn tons and other regions were reported to have processed 3.836 million tons of petrochemicals.
Furthermore, Iran’s petrochemical exports in the first half of the current calendar year which started on March 21 is up 14 percent year-on-year, production director at National Petrochemical Company said.
Ali-Mohammad Basaqzadeh said the petrochemical exports showed also a 7-percent growth in terms of value compared with a year ago.
He added that Iran’s petrochemical production was 4 percent more than last year.
Basaqzadeh said the easing of restrictions on the export of such products as LPG, methanol and MEG as well as overhaul of petrochemical plants are behind the production growth.
He said Iran’s petrochemical production, currently standing at around 60 million tons a year, is expected to double by 2025.
Iran Petrochemical Commercial Company (IPCC) exported 838 million dollars worth of petrochemicals during the first four months of the current calendar year which started on March 21.
The exported products, weighing 831,000 tons, mainly included propane and butane.
Iran produced 40 million tons of petrochemicals in the last calendar year, with 9 billion dollars worth of its products being exported.
The country plans to increase its petrochemical exports to 12 billion dollars this year.
