1700 Km of Pipelines on the Agenda, NIOPDC Official

TEHRAN Oct 20 (Shana)--The National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) plans to lay 1700 km of new pipelines to facilitate transfer of oil products and crude oil.

Director of integrated planning at NIOPDC Shahaboddin Metaji made the remarks in an interview with Shana, adding laying the pipelines will be completed by March 2017 expanding total length of the country pipelines to 16 thousand kilometers.
Metaji further said that the company will concentrate on laying pipelines for the transfer of oil products because this kind of transferring can bring down the cost of transportation.
“This kind of carrying crude oil and oil products makes deploying road trucks for transportation of fuel unnecessary and prevents not only waste of time and energy in traffic congestion but could reduce the risk of accidents”, NIOPDC’s official told Shana.
According to him, expanding and reinforcement of pipelines carrying oil products and crude oil is another priority NIOPDC has on the agenda over the Sixth Economic Development Plan beginning next year.
Currently there is approximately 14 thousand kilometers of pipelines across the country carrying 123 billion liters of oil products annually.
