Iranian Contractors Involved in 31 Power Projects in Iraq

TEHRAN Oct 25 (Shana)--Iranian contractors are involved in implementation of 31 electricity and water projects in Iraq, worth 1. 327 billion dollars.

Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting with Iraq’s Minister of Water Resources in Tehran, head of promoting exports office at Ministry of Energy Bahram Nezamolmolky made the remarks, adding neighboring countries of Iran specially Iraq are well aware of Iranian companies' capabilities in implementation of water and electricity projects.
 
"He added: "Right now, 31 water and electricity projects are underway in Iraq with participation of Iranian contractors.
 
He noted that in his meeting with Iraq’s Minister of Water Resources, it was agreed that Iranian contractors would be authorized to use Iranian manufactured products instead of European ones in water and electricity projects.
 
He said Iranian commodities should enjoy high quality with international standard specifications.
 
He further noted that this kind of agreements will pave the way for promoting exports of Iranian water and electricity commodities to other countries. 
 
 “Participation in electricity and water projects also helps Iranian and Iraqi companies to exchange technical knowhow and transfer of their experiences”, Ministry of Energy’s official noted.
 
Meanwhile Iraq’s Minister of Water Resources Mohsin Al-Shammari expressed satisfaction with his visit to Iran and participation of Iranian companies in electricity and water projects in his country.
 
He added: "A land reform project in Iraq includes 17 thousand kilometers of land in next four years adding water sector of the country needs at least 1.1 billion dollars in investment which creates good opportunity for Iranian companies to take part."
 
He further said that 100 dams in Iraq need dredging, expressing hope Iranian companies will take part in implementation of not only dredging projects but in building three medium-sized dams and a large lake whose details will be announced later.
