Khuzestan Province Supplies Power to Iraq

TEHRAN Nov 17 (Shana)--Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan province has exported more than 3 billion kilowatts/hour of electricity to neighboring Iraq, a provincial official said.

Mahmoud Jan-Qorban, managing-director of Khuzestan Electricity Distribution Company, said the electricity has been exported through two 400-kilovolt transmission lines over a seven-month period starting in March.

He said the figure was up 35 percent year-on-year.

Jan-Qorban said thermal, gas-operating and hydroelectric power plants in Khuzestan province generated nearly 21.7 billion kilowatts/hour of electricity during the same period, up from last year’s 19.7 billion kw/h.
