Iran Welcomes China Investment

TEHRAN Nov 17 (Shana)--Iran’s first vice-president said Tehran welcomes investment by Chinese companies in the Islamic Republic’s oil and gas projects.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran’s officials have a long-term view of China’s energy market and Tehran, while welcoming the presence of Chinese companies for investment in Iran’s oil and gas projects, is interested in broadening its trade ties with Beijing,” Es’haq Jahangiri said in a meeting with the head of the Central Politburo of the Communist Party of China.

He said that Iran is ready for cooperation with China for the establishment of Silk Road economic belt.

Jahangiri said China can invest in Iran’s strategic Chabahar port in southeast.

He also extended gratitude to China for its positive role in the nuclear negotiations between Iran and six world powers.

For his part, the Chinese politician said Beijing believes that Iran’s rights to peaceful nuclear energy have to be guaranteed.
