New Power Line to Boost Electricity Exchange with Armenia

TEHRAN Nov 18 (Shana)--Launching a new 400-kw power line will pave the way for raising the volume of electricity imports from Armenia, deputy Minister of Energy for international affairs Esmail Mahsouli said.

Speaking on the sidelines of water, wastewater and the related industries exhibition, he said Iran and Armenia enjoy a high level of cooperation in energy sector and the volume of electricity imports from the neighboring country is expected to rise by 300 megawatts.

He added launching a new 400-kW power line will boost the level of electricity exchange between the two countries.

According to Mahsouli, completion of the third electricity transfer line has been delayed due to lack of funds, expressing hope the line will be completed in the near future after Export Development Bank of Iran (EDBI) announced its readiness to fund the project.
