Drilling On Schedule in Sepand Gas Field

TEHRAN Nov 18 (Shana)--Drilling operations of the first exploratory well in Sepand gas field which is going on schedule will give more accurate data on the gas field reserves, an exploration official said.

NIOC website quoted Ghadirali Fakouri head of Persian Gulf studies at exploration department as saying the department prepared its first program related to evaluation of Sepand gas field reservoir in 1993 but drilling was suspended up to now due to lack of access to accurate data about the gas field’s reserves.

“After drilling of the first well in the gas field, which is underway for deploying Shahid Rajaei drilling rig, we will be in a better situation to assess the volume of gas trapped in its reservoir”, Fakouri said.

Sepand gas field is located 250 km off Kish Island in the Persian Gulf waters and the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) is in charge of drilling operations in the field.
