South Pars to Become Iran Sulfur Hub

TEHRAN Nov 23 (Shana)--Iran is set to turn the giant South Pars gas field into a sulfur hub, director of research and technology at National Iranian Gas Company said.

“Currently, Hasheminejad gas refining company with a capacity of 2,600 tons a day and South Pars gas complex with a capacity of 1,400 tons are the main companies producing sulfur and this complex will become the country’s sulfur hub as new phases [of South Pars] come online,” Saeed Pakseresht said.

He said that a roadmap needs to be designed for sulfur production while marketing as well as economic and technical feasibility studies should be done.

He added that Iran’s agricultural sector needs sulfur.

Pakseresht said using sulfur in agricultural activities would increase efficiency by 30 percent.
