Iran Gas Treatment Capacity to Double

TEHRAN Nov 23 (Shana)--Iran is poised to double its gas production and processing capacity in three years, managing-director of National Iranian Gas Company said.

“Within three years, as Iran’s gas production capacity is doubling, the country’s gas management has to change,” Hamid-Reza Araqi said.

He said Iran’s gas sector is facing a number of challenges including 70% dependence of Iran’s energy mix on gas, the country’s adherence to global gas trade, the necessity of cooperation with international companies for acquiring technology and the growing number of gas customers.

Araqi said Iran’s gas production will soar to 330 bcm a year in three years, adding that $62 billion in investment is needed for funding the infrastructure.
