Valve Actuators Developed in Iran

TEHRAN Dec 08 (Shana)--Valve actuators, widely used in the petroleum industry, have been developed in Iran, managing-director of Iran Oil Terminals Company said.

Pirouz Mousavi said Iran would end importing valve actuators if the industrial-scale manufacturing of this item starts.

He said that domestic manufacturing of valve actuators would save the country 30% per each item.

Mousavi said actuators are used in refineries, pipelines, reservoirs and jetties.

The electric actuator requires a motor to provide torque to operate a valve. Primarily used on rotary type valves, electric actuators are controlled using alternating current as well as the motor. They are quiet, non-toxic and energy efficient.

However, electricity must be available, which is not always the case.
