Iran Denies Oil-for-Goods Deal with Russia

TEHRAN Dec 10 (Shana)--Iran’s petroleum minister has denied any oil-for-goods deal with Russia, saying no such agreement has been signed between the two countries.

“The barter of Iran’s oil against Russian commodities is not true and no such an agreement has ever been signed,” Bijan Namdar Zangeneh said.

“The two countries only cooperate with each other in the oil and gas sectors,” he added. “Iran will benefit from the technical and operational capabilities of Russian companies in the oil and gas industries.”

Russian Economy Minister Alexei Ulyukayev said on November 30 Moscow plans to sign contracts with Iran to start delivering grain and industrial products to Tehran in return for oil.

"This question was raised. It will affect not only grain, there are broad lists of goods," Ulyukayev told reporters in Tehran.
