Iran Budget Oil Independence Unprecedented

TEHRAN Dec 15 (Shana)--Iran’s annual budget for next fiscal year is dependent on petrodollars for 30%, an unprecedented figure in the past century, a vice-president said.

Sourena Sattari said the government has drafted the budget based on $72 oil for next fiscal year which starts in March 2015.

“We believe that we have yet to work a lot for independence from oil, because we should not let oil revenues be spent on current and development costs,” he said, adding that petrodollars should further serve competition.

President Hassan Rouhani recently submitted the annual budget for next year to the parliament for deliberations.

Oil prices have kept falling since June.
