Water Management Essential

TEHRAN Jan 23(Shana)--Managing director of Iran’s Water and Wastewater Engineering Company HamidReza Janbaz has said the company plans to design and present a new model to bring down the waste of water resources in the country.

Speaking during a visit to a water treatment project in Sari, the capital of northern province of Mazandaran, Janbaz said the company had decided to reform the water network of the country with the participation of private sector.

Janbaz further noted that Mazandaran Water and Wastewater Company has embarked on designing a model for prevention of wasting water resources, adding Mazandaran will be the first province in the country implementing a prevention of wasting water resources project.  

He continued: "After completion of the first phase of Sari water treatment project, 500 liters of water will be transferred from Shahid Rajaee Dam to the city after purification."

According to him, construction of foundations of the water treatment facility is in its final phase and its related equipment has already been purchased, and is ready for installation.

Meanwhile managing director of Mazandaran’s Water and Wastewater Company Zabihollah Zakeri said: "1.670 km of water distribution and transfer network of Mazandaran province is corroded needing 114 billion IR rials for reconstruction and repair."
