Private Sector to Build Gas Condensate Refineries

TEHRAN Jan 24(Shana)-- Private sector has assumed a bigger share in implementation of Siraf Park's 8 gas condensate refineries, deputy minister of petroleum Mansour Moazzami said.

Moazzami said 54 companies in the form of 35 consortia competed for building the 8 gas condensate refineries, adding widespread welcome by private sector companies encouraged Petroleum Ministry to announce its projects publicly so that all companies informed about oil industry projects through a public call.

Elsewhere in his remarks has said: "We can’t ignore those contractors who have been called ‘quasi-governmental’", adding some of these companies are very capable ones but “they should take part in completion for winning the projects”.

Even though some economists are of the opinion that tumbling oil prices have made these projects uneconomical, Iranian Minister of Petroleum said last week that falling oil prices have no impact on the ministry’s plans for building gas condensate refineries.

Building gas condensate refineries will go ahead on schedule, Zanganeh noted.
