New Wind Power System Fights Pollution

TEHRAN Jan 25(Shana)--An Iranian knowledge-based company is working on a new wind power generation system to generate electricity and fight air pollution mega cities, said the company chief.

Masoud Se Dehi said the new system is called the Invelox funnel system which can generate electricity 6 times more than conventional wind turbines by absorbing wind as slow as 3 k/h.

He said the system is primarily developed by an Iranian researcher, Daryoush Alaei, in the US, and can work up to 100 mph fast.

He said the new system can easily compete with other forms of wind power systems.

Se Dehi further said besides producing electricity out of wind from all directions, the funnel system also gives out clean air.

Moreover, the system can be easily adopted in small areas of land in much lower altitudes in comparison with other forms of wind power generators.

The system can be installed in over 80% of Iran's lands, he said.

Operating and maintaining the Invelox system costs about 50 percent less than traditional wind turbines.

Bringing the wind-generation technology closer to the ground also reduces the likelihood of radio interference or harm to birds.
