“Georgia can be a transit route for Iran’s gas exports to Europe and on the other hand, North-South Corridor and the Islamic Republic of Iran Railroads can connect Georgian ports to the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman,” Rouhani said in a meeting with Georgian parliament speaker Davit Usupashvili in Tehran.
Rouhani said energy is a sector in which the two countries can cooperate.
“We have also to cooperate with each other with regard to all regional issues and there is no option but cooperation for stability and security,” he said.
Usupashvili said cooperation has reached a good level between Iranian and Georgian ministries of economy and oil.
He also expressed hope for the conclusion of an agreement between Iran and six world powers as soon as possible. “Georgia believes that we should not waste time now and we can study and start major projects,” he said.
