Third Well Being Spudded in Sardar-e-Jangal

TEHRAN Jan 26(Shana)--A third well is being drilled in Sardar-e-Jangal oil field, the managing-director of North Drilling Company said.

Hedayatollah Khademi said the drilling of the second well is now over at the depth of 3,488 meters.

He said each well of Sardar-e-Jangal can produce 2,000 to 5,000 b/d of oil.

Production tests were recently carried out successfully at the second exploration well drilled in the offshore field.

Oil production tests were done to make sure of recovery from the field located off Caspian Sea waters.

The tests included pressure and temperature data, oil and gas recovery rate and other production parameters.

The field is being operated by Khazar Exploration and Production Company (KEPCO).

The first well in Sardar-e-Jangal was spudded more than two years ago. The field is estimated to hold two billion barrels of oil in place, 25% of which is recoverable.
