Gas Delivery to Power Plants Stands at 44.2 bcm

TEHRAN Jan 31(Shana)--Gas delivery to power plants has crossed 44.253 billion cubic meters of gas so far this year, up by 10.632 billion cubic meters against the similar period last year.

The National Iranian Gas Company’s (NIGC) official Mojtaba Sheikhbahaei said the company supplied as much as 33.630 billion cubic meters of gas to power plants during similar period last year.

Gas delivery to power plants averaged 142 million cubic meters per day during the first 313 days of this year while average daily gas delivery stood at 105 million liters over the similar period last year, he noted.

According to Sheikhbahaei, rising gas delivery to power plants and large industries enabled Ministry of Petroleum to save equivalent amount of oil products.

During past years, Petroleum Ministry had to supply power plants with liquid fuel in winters due rising gas consumption by household and commercial sectors and lack of enough gas which also reduced feedstock delivery to the petrochemical sector and forced closure of some petrochemical complexes in winter.

Rising gas delivery to power plants not only will prevent pollution but paves the ground for boosting oil products exports with the goal of generating foreign exchange revenues, deputy Gas Supply Department at NIGC concluded.
