Natural Gas Export 8% up since March 2014

TEHRAN April 08(Shana)--Iran's gas exports increased over 8% year-on-year during the previous calendar year which ended on March 20 2014, head of National Iranian Gas Company Hamid-Reza Araqi said.

The volume of the gas exported during last calendar year was nearly one billion cubic meters more than the amount Iran exported during the preceding year, added the official, said Araqi. 

Trading gas is one of the important pillars of the 6th development plan (2010–15) of the country and Iran is predicted to gain a toehold in the gas market in Europe besides Persian Gulf countries, added the official. 

Iran's gas imports were 2.5 mcm higher than exports, he said, adding that all Iranian familities will be covered by the national gas trunkline within the next three years.
