NIOPDC Foils Smuggling Oil Products

TEHRAN April 18(Shana)--More than 44.5 million liters of smuggled oil products were discovered and returned to official network of distribution last year, down by 14 percent against a year earlier.

Head of preventive measures and fight against smuggling oil products at the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) Ahmad Vahedian Aboutorabi said the smuggled oil products included gasoline, gasoil, kerosene and fuel oil.

According to him, gasoil made up the highest percentage of oil products with 39.7 million liters or 89 percent of the total smuggled oil products while kerosene, fuel oil and gasoline constituted respectively 6, 4 and 1 percent of the products.

Low prices of oil products in Iran tempt some dealers to try to smuggle them to provinces located in border areas as well as to the neighboring countries.
