More Cities Joining Eruo-4 Gasoline Users

TEHRAN April 19(Shana)--Southern cities of Abadan and Ahvaz will have access to eruo-4 gasoline as of late May after a gasoline-making unit at Abadan oil refinery becomes operational.

Director of coordination and supervision on production at the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), Saeed Mahjobi, told Shana that the unit will produce 3 million liters of eruo-4 gasoline per day at the first phase but the figure will rise in next steps.

He said the refinery will also produce euro-4 gasoil in the second phase of its development plan.

A sulfur refining unit (SRU), which was launched a couple weeks ago on a trial basis, will come online along with its gasoline making unit in late May as well.

Abadan Oil Refinery could produce more than 19 billion liters of oil products over the past Iranian calendar year to March 20 2015.

Production of gasoline and gasoil stood at respectively 4.23 and 6.4 billion liters last year, while production of fuel oil hit 7.04 billion liters.

As the oldest refinery in the Middle East, Abadan Oil Refinery was able to process 628 thousand barrels of oil per day before the start of Iran-Iraq war in 1980.

While foreign oil companies were in charge of running the refinery before 1973 since then it has been running by NIOC.
