Fuel Conservation Intensifying

TEHRAN April 20(Shana)--Managing director of Iran’s Fuel Conservation Company (IFCO), Nasrollah Saifi, has said that current Iranian calendar year will be the beginning year of bringing down energy consumption.

Speaking at a meeting in southern city of Ahvaz, Saifi said last year’s MoU signed between Petroleum Ministry and Interior Ministry was an important step towards lessening fuel consumption by half.

He warned that without optimized fuel consumption, the country will become an importer of fuel.

According to him, even though implementation of targeting subsidies law has been able to bring down energy consumption since 2010, energy consumption in industrial and agricultural sectors as well as transportation has remained high.
