Oil Industry Becoming Efficient in 6th Development Plan

TEHRAN April 20(Shana)--Manager of strategic planning at Petroleum Ministry, Saeed Ghavampour, has said changing oil sector into an efficient industry by relying on domestic capabilities and international interaction is one the main objectives of the Petroleum Ministry during the 6th five-year development plan to 2020.

Speaking at an energy planning meeting, Ghavampour said rising output of hydrocarbon resources with the aim of creating productive wealth, ensuring energy supply for domestic consumption, rising production of oil and petrochemical products, considering environmental factors, efficient use of hydrocarbon resources and changing the country into a key player at world energy market are the other main targets of Petroleum Ministry over the 6th five-year development plan.

He added that Petroleum Ministry had reviewed its own performance during the 4th and 5th five-year development plans and recognized the challenges that lie ahead of the 6th five-year development plan.

According to him, financial restrictions due to tough international sanctions, multiple rising of oil industry commodities and equipment prices , being behind schedule in launching oil industry projects mainly due to allocating oil industry financial resources to paying subsidies, difficulties arising from foreign exchange transfer, high level of energy intensity, low level of oil and gas trade in the region, high level of the share of heavy oil products like fuel oil in oil products of refineries, technical and management problems which contractors and domestic manufacturers face, are a number of problems oil industry lie ahead of the 6th five-year development plan.
