Parliament Backing Fight against Dirty Money

TEHRAN April 26(Shana)--The Islamic Republic of Iran’s parliament is ready to support any initiative taken by judicial and executive branches for fight against dirty money.

Deputy speaker of the Parliament, Mohammadhassan Abutorabifard made the remarks during the public session of parliament today.

The remarks come after Interior Minister expressed concerns about the role dirty money could play in parliamentary elections which is going to be held late this year.

Parliament summoned Interior Minister, Rahmani Fazli, today to attend Parliament and present more explanations about his remarks.

Deputy speaker of parliament said, "Due to various interpretations and misunderstandings by media, Parliament decided to call on Interior Minister to attend the parliament and present a more transparent explanation about his remarks."

Following Interior Minister’s address, Abutorabifard asked all the senior managers of the country to express their opinion in a way that does not lead to misunderstanding.

He noted that the executive and judicial branches are responsible for the fight against corruption and smuggling and Interior Ministry should use all its capabilities in a decisive way to fight against any wrongdoing.

“If there is corruption, for instance, in customs offices, it’s a subdivision of executive branch”, he said noting, “Fortunately the country has up-to-date rules pertaining to fight against smuggling and their enforcement will ensure a healthy economy.”

We should be careful not to harm national interests by politicizing issues and we should avoid using wrong analyses and misunderstandings for settling personal disputes with each other, he concluded.
