POGC Eyes Phase 19 Completion by March 2016

TEHRAN April 28(Shana)--Managing-director of Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) said phase 19 of the giant South Pars gas field will be fully operational by the end of the current calendar year to March 20 2016.

Ali-Akbar Shabanpour said two refinery trains of the phase with offshore feedstock supply will come on-stream by the end of the year provided that the financing of the projects take place as planned.

He also said two other refinery trains in phases 6 to 8 of the gas field are also planned to be constructed by the end of the year. The refineries will be fed by sour and dry gas from the phases.

Phase 19 of South Pars is more than 85% complete, said the official. Once completed the phase will produce 56.6 million cubic meters of sour gas.

The refinery, offshore platforms and pipelines for this phase are on average 80% complete.

Phase 19 is being operated by an Iranian consortium comprising Petropars and Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC).

Once fully developed, South Pars would be producing more than 800 mcm/d in three years.

Iran is incurring $100 million a day in losses for each day of delay in gas recovery from South Pars.
