Norway Welcomes Expanding Economic Ties with Iran

TEHRAN May 06(Shana)--In a meeting with head of the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a Norwegian parliamentary delegation has expressed readiness to expand economic relations including energy cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Anniken Huitfeldt, chair of Norwegian Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense heading a parliamentary delegation of eight officials arrived in Tehran on Tuesday for a 2-day visit.

During the meeting Boroujerdi said that frequent visits and communications between officials of the two countries will pave the way for growing understanding of capabilities and capacities for expanding cooperation between Iran and Norway.

In her turn, Anniken Huitfeldt expressed satisfaction with her visit to Iran, noting Norway Parliament supports expanding relations with Iran as an important country in the Middle East.

She also expressed hope preliminary agreement between Iran and 5+1 leads to a final deal so that it could put an end to more than a decade of dispute between the West and Iran.
