ICCIMA Head Underlines Private Sector Significance

TEHRAN May 18(Shana)-- Head of Iran’s Chamber Of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture Gholamhosain Shafeie has said that cutting reliance on oil revenues, innovation and boosting productivity are the real expressions of Economy of Resistance.

Speaking at a conference titled Empathy, Consensus, Economic Boom and Creating Jobs that was held today morning in ICCIMA office in Tehran, Shafeie said past experiences have proved that reliance on state-owned enterprises have never succeeded in issues like creating jobs.

He continued that no government can push state-owned enterprises towards competition, adding private sector companies will remain incompetent in command economies fearing external world.

He further noted that to ride out of recession and achieve a balanced economy we should change past habits.

He noted that fortunately the traditional view about private sector has changed and past misunderstanding between private sector and the state no longer exists although heavy shadow of state economy and pseudo-state economy has choked off small and medium enterprises.

Head of ICCIMA said: "Mistrust between private sector and the state on the one hand and reliance on one product for running the economy on the other hand should be removed because economic growth is achievable only by leaving behind inefficient management of state-owned enterprises and fight against corruption.

The best way for realization the motto of Empathy and Consensus is widespread participation of government and private sector and cooperation with each other which could result in a free and prosperous country.
