Kharg Petrochemical Output Up 13%

TEHRAN May 19*(Shana)--Kharg Petrochemical Plant’s output rose by 13 percent last year, public relations of NPC announced.

Quoting head of technical services of the plant, Mohammadali Kazemipour, NPC’s public relations reported that Kharg Petrochemical Plant managed to produce 980,000 tons of petrochemicals during the past Iranian calendar year to March 20 2015.

According to Kazemipour the plant is determined to export more than one million tons of petrochemicals this year.

Stating that Kharg petrochemical plant is shipping all its products to other countries, he said last year the company could produce 2,000 tons of methanol, 350 tons of propane, 430 tons of butane and close to 450 tons of sulfur on a daily basis.  

According to Kazemipour the plant also delivers 4 tons of liquid gas to residents of Kharg Island in the form of gas cylinder on a daily basis.

In addition to a 20-day overhaul last year, the plant could buy its catalysts from a credible European country and modernize the catalysts of its methanol unit, he said, noting the plant has decided to use domestically produced catalysts this year as well in cooperation with a domestic company.
