Gas Refining Up

TEHRAN May 24(Shana)--The first refinery of South Pars Gas Complex has successfully processed as much as 28 million cubic meters of gas per day last year, up by 6 against a year earlier, director of the complex Mohammad Medhi Hashemi said.

In statements to Shana, Hashemi said the refinery’s output also exceeded the preset target for refining by 2 percent.  

Gas condensate and sulfur production rose as well last year, he said.   

Gas flaring edged down by 20 percent last year with the aim of reducing emissions and protecting environment, he said noting the refinery captured part of gas through demercaptanization operations and injected it to the refinery as input.
