“The missions assigned to NIGC should be revised so that it would become an international company,” Hamid-Reza Araqi said.
He added that NIGC has to redefine its activities because of the new environment created for the company.
Araqi said NIGC has to correct its procedures, adding: “Since we plan to enter the global market we have to make the procedures transparent.”
He said NIGC has been supplying gas to cities, industries and power plants for five decades while creating jobs and protecting the environment.
“In the coming years, NIGC would not be the only gas supplier in the country and it will also be managing the country’s energy sector,” he said.
Araqi said NIGC has negotiated a $2.5-billion contract with potential investors over the past months.
