Iran Eyes Industry Boost with German Firms

TEHRAN July 21 (Shana)--Iranian minister of industry, mine and trade says the country is seeking to boost its industries by reaching out for technologies possessed by industrial countries like Germany.

Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh said, during a Monday meeting with a high-profile German delegation in Tehran, that the visiting delegation has expressed great happiness to restore their economic ties with Iran once the western sanctions on Tehran are lifted.

"The German delegation has expressed interest to take hold of their economic cooperation with Iran immediately after the sanctions relief," said Nematzadeh.

He said Iranian and German firms can enhance their ties in all industrial sectors given Germany's unparalleled progress in almost all technological fields.

During his meeting with the members of the German delegation, the Iranian official discussed joint investments, introduction of new technologies and renovation of industrial production lines in Iran.

Headed by Germany’s Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel, a 60-member German delegation arrived in Tehran on Monday less than a week after Iran struck a historical deal with world powers-namely Britain, China, France, Russia, the United States and Germany- on its nuclear program which is hoped to lift western sanctions on Tehran.
