Iran Poised to Double Oil Export

TEHRAN July 22(Shana)--The government spokesman has said Iran will see its oil and condensate exports double by the end of the 6th five-year development plan (2016-2021).

"The export of oil and gas condensate will double by the end of the 6th development plan," said Mohammad Bagher Nobakht on Tuesday.

He said Iran eyes oil revenues to cross 100 billion dollars as show estimates by the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) that oil prices will hit $74 per barrel in the near future.

"We must not forget that Iran used to earn $120b from selling oil three years ago. We are not fishing for progress in these numbers; rather we are planning to set the grounds for boosting domestic and foreign investments," said the official.

Nobakht said the administration is pursuing a state-owned economy, adding, "It is not right for the government to sell crude oil and spend its revenues for investing projects inside the country."

"The greater part of the country's growth must come from non-government investments. This is the way the committee devising the 6th development plan is looking at the issue. We are not seeking people's transient happiness to check on inflation by importing products from overseas. We control the inflation rate by boosting domestic production."
